Only the intro of this song was in my head for a long long time, I just played it over and over again, completely unable to come up with anything else. It of course applies to my relationship experiences, but it's also kind of a generic song about how no one's perfect but you both have to try your best to BE your best, and to understand when the other person falls short.

It was really just a lot of knocking my head against the wall and waiting for inspiration to hit... I'm not too proud of the lyrics as a poetic vehicle, but I like the sound of it and ... yeah, I think it's ok.
